David Edgerton FCPA is internationally regarded a leading expert in the valuation, depreciation and asset management of public sector assets. His career has included –

  • Fellow of CPA Australia

  • Author of CPA Australia’s guides to the valuation and depreciation of public and not-for-profit sector assets under the Australian (2016) and international (2013) standards

  • Contributing author to the Institute of Public Works Engineers Australian (IPWEA) Infrastructure Financial Management Guidelines (2009)

  • Chair of the Public Sector Assets Collaborative Group. This is a special interest group of 'The Asset Institute'. It consists of major Australian peak bodies with an interest in the strategic asset management of public sector assets.

  • Director of APV Valuers and Asset Management. APV specialises in the valuation and depreciation of public sector assets and operates predominately in Australia, New Zealand and the south pacific. 

  • Over 20 years as an auditor with the Queensland Audit Office where he –

    • Was responsible for the audit of the local government sector, water sector and contract auditors

    • Chaired the Asset Valuation and Audit Advisory Group

    • Authored the Better Practice Guidelines for Non-Current Assets

  • A regular presenter at state, national and international conferences both within Australia and overseas

  • Recipient of the national ‘Public Sector Accountant of the Year’ Award
